Louise
J. Buckelew studied art at universities in four states and received
private instruction from several Southern California artists.
She was a member of the Southern California Artists Association,
a group of 125 artists. Membership was invitation only and included
a private jury of each artists paintings.
More than twenty
years were spent in producing commercial art as a free-lance artist
in California, Arkansas and Texas and as a full partner/owner
of Pinecliff Advertising Agency in Shawnee, Oklahoma, serving
clients in Tulsa and Oklahoma City.
Important influences
on her art were the still life paintings of Albrecht Durer, Henk
Bos and Jean Chardin, the botanical paintings of Pierre
Redoute and abstracts by Pablo Picasso.
